Journal of Taiwan Urological Association is published by Taiwan
Urological Association. Any original basic and clinical research
on urologic science, brief report, analysis of disease case,
report on disease case, case study, general critics (limited to
invitation by the society only), readers' correspondence, and
scientific discussion related to urologic sciences (excluded
translated papers), unpublished or in the process of submitting
to journals are welcome. We require all authors' names and
submission of a signed agreement for transferring copyright to
the journal.

Of the papers submitted to the journal, editorial committee
reserves the right to correct or reject the manuscript. Upon
publication the copyright will belong to Taiwan Urological
Association. Without written permission from the society, no
part of the paper is allowed to be used in any form.

The original papers or disease case analysis should contain
Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results,
Discussion, Acknowledgment, References, Tables and Figures
including legends. Abstract in Chinese and English should follow
the order of objective, materials and methods, results and
conclusion written in separate paragraphs. The abstract of
disease case report should orderly follow: introduction, report
of disease cases, discussion, acknowledgment, references, table
and figures with legends, and a summary. Case study should
contain Background, Differential diagnosis, Management,
Pathology , Comment, References, table and figures with legends
Of other bio-medical journals and books including textbooks,
quoted in total or in parts must obtain agreement from principal
author and publisher. The letter of agreement should be secured
before submitting manuscript.

Research papers dealt with human samples collected and used for
experiments must obey the regulation “Regulation of using human
body as the samples for research and utilization purposes”
reference D.O.H. No.0910012508 published on January 2, 1991 by
Department of Health, Executive Yuan.
In accordance with a regulation published on February, 10, 1992,
reference no. Nung Mu 0920040157 by the Council of Agriculture,
Executive Yuan, "Research papers dealing with the use of
vertebrates in scientific application planning, must be
accompanied by a letter of approval from the animal experiment
management team of the relevant authorities in order to ensure
the humane audit of laboratiry animals".

Manuscripts must be submitted in
separate and numbered papers in the following order:
The first page is limited to title of the paper, author(s),
research unit and institute, and an honored title (20 words are
the most in Chinese or 80 words in English) and corresponding
author's name and address. The characters of paper title,
abbreviated title except preposition, article and conjugation
should be in capital. The authors from different unit or
department of the same institution should be written as follows:
Department of Urology and 1Surgery, College of Medicine,
National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C.
The second page includes summary and less than 5 key words.

The third page includes abstract in English and Chinese(not
required for papers submitted by Non-Chinese speaking authors),
acknowledgment, references, tables and figures including legends
and transcribed documents in English and Chinese (including key
words).

Manuscript is submitted in English, but Chinese abstract is
required. Also submitted is a letter stating that all authors
unanimously agree with the submitted manuscript. English should
be included in all legends of figures and explanation of
inserted pictures. Use size A4 copying paper, double space. The
left margin is 3.5 cm; top and bottom 2.5 cm. The first word of
title and figures except preposition and article should be in
capital. The English in bracket except permanent noun should be
in small letters.

Use Arabic numbers and
international unit symbols for measurement and weighing, namely
cm, mm, µm, L, dl, ml, µl, kg, g, mg, µg, ng, pg, kcal, 37oC,
msec, mm3, % etc. Use mol for molecular weight and for
concentration use mol/L or M or mg/100 ml or mg/dl. Use µm for
absorption wave length. Use Ci for radioactive unit Curie. Use
Hz (hertz) for amplitude of vibration. For atomic weight, write
superscript number at left corner e.g. 32P, 14C, [T, 14C] acetic
acid. For Greek characters α, β, µ, χ, use hand writing if your
computer has no such function. Other abbreviations and symbols,
please refer to IUPAC-IUB Document No.1 (Arch Biochem Biophys
1966;115;1-12). Drugs should be expressed with generic name,
never using commercial name.

Individual file of figures are uploaded separately. File name
should contain figure number and the paper title. Optic and
electron microscopic pictures should indicate magnifications in
figure legends.

References should be in the order of quotation; A maximum of 20
is allowed. References are limited to 10
for case reports. In the text, citations should use
Arabic numerals as a superscript immediately following the
citation and after any punctuation: e.g., ... in many studies.

Quoted non-English references should contain author's name, book
title, journal. If the paper contains English translation, use
translated English name. If no English translation is available,
romanized phonetic words should be used with the attachment of
original national language in bracket, e.g. [In Japanese].

A maximum of six author's names is allowed. Less than six should
spell out all author's name. Seven or more than 7, list the
front 3 names and use et al for the rest. In the quoted
sentence, if two or less than two, list all names, if 3 or over
3, use the first author's name with et al.
12.
Publication of the paper will follow the order of agreement made
by editorial board.
13.
The authors are responsible for proof reading repeatedly twice.
During proof reading author(s) is not allowed to change the
text. The manuscript should be sent back to the society within
two days after receipt of manuscript.
14.
The society is responsible for printing cost of color pictures
or figures but whether or not permitted will be decided by the
chief editor.
15.
The number of reprint required should be ordered at the time of
proof reading; 50 copies are free and more than that will be
charged accordingly.
16.
Upon agreement for publication by editor board and chief editor,
author should submit 2 copies of proof-read and corrected
manuscript and a diskette to the society.
